Dr. Tania Dempsey to create new Institute
I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Lawrence Afrin, the world's leading authority on mast cell activation syndrome, has joined my practice at Armonk Integrative Medicine. Dr. Afrin and I will be working to create a new, state-of-the-art medical institute focused on diagnosis, treatment, research and education regarding multi-system diseases, including mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). We will work as a team to serve the needs of patients with suspected and proven MCAS.
Meet Dr. Lawrence Afrin
Dr. Lawrence Afrin is a leading expert in mast cell activation syndrome. He is also the author of the top book Never Bet Against Occam: Mast Cell Activation Disease and the Modern Epidemics of Chronic Illness and Medical Complexity. Dr. Afrin earned a B.S. in Computer Science at Clemson University and an M.D. at The Medical University of South Carolina. He pursued an internal medicine residency and hematology and oncology clinical and research fellowships. He directed MUSC’s hematology / oncology fellowship training program and myeloproliferative neoplasms clinical trials program and joined the University of Minnesota in 2014. He has served on national panels on oncology education and speaks widely on mast cell activation syndrome. He serves on the editorial board for several journals.
